Israel-Gaza-What Would Jesus Do?

If you've seen any news in the past 2 weeks, you know there is a war in the Middle East. Atrocities are occurring and fake news is everywhere. Not surprisingly, people are taking sides along ethnic and idealistic grounds,  and the hate continues. But what should we do? What would Jesus Do? Well 2000 years ago, much to the chagrin of His disciples (Especially Peter and Simon the Zealot), He met with a Samaritan woman to bring His Kingdom truth to bear in her life (See John 4). I don't need to give you all of the facts regarding Israel and the Samaritans, but I can tell you it wasn't pretty and the hatred was visceral. So what did Jesus do? Write a blog on how bad the Samaritans were? Maybe even give His opinion regarding geo-political solutions for the Middle East? I suppose He could have, but He knew His Kingdom message was more important for the Jews and even the hated Samaritans. Could it be Jesus loves Israel and the Palestinians? Could it be that as evil as people can be, God's Kingdom story of grace and love can conquer it? I mean, Paul (Formerly Saul) was a murdering zealot. What I do know, is there are brothers and sisters in Israel and Palestine, and no matter what the political solution is, there are innocent people being slaughtered because they live in the wrong region of the world. What can we do? We can pray! We can pray for Israel, Palestine, and the Middle East. Pray for the families that have lost love ones. Pray for the horrible living conditions that war can create. Pray for those committing acts of evil, to see the light of God's Kingdom gospel. I remember meeting a man when we lived a short time in Tunisia, who was saved while in an Al Quaeda training camp, training to be a suicide bomber. Our God is bigger than politics, geo-political disasters, and the sinfulness that contributes to the hatred and horrors we are witnessing around the world. Let's be peacemakers and bridge builders, like our savior, and cross the lines of division to relay a story of another Kingdom, one that knows no "Jew or Gentile, free or slave, nor male or female." because "we are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28).
